From timelines to layouts, from concept to aftercare — here’s everything you might want to know before starting your Rocksalt journey.
Starting a van project can raise a lot of questions. That’s natural.
Here you’ll find honest, straightforward answers — to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Start by getting in touch via our contact form or email. We’ll send you our brochure and can book a video call or workshop visit to explore your project together. To secure a design slot, we ask for a €5,000 non-refundable deposit, which will be deducted from your final invoice.
Each van build takes around 1000-1500hrs once we begin.
Depending on demand, there’s usually a lead time before we can start your build — get in touch early to plan ahead. As a minimum your van will take 9 months.
You will need to bring your own van, provided it matches our technical requirements. We can help with ordering a new van from Mercedes, or you are welcome to supply your own.
We specialise in Mercedes Sprinter vans suited to full-time travel and off-grid living. We would recommend a long wheelbase 315/317/319. The 317 L3H2 version is probably the best option with a long list of factory fitted options available for your needs. Our sample van is under 3.5t so can be driven on a standard B license.
If you’re unsure whether your van is a good fit, just ask — we’re happy to advise.
Yes, as long as the model fits our build criteria and the van is in good condition. We’ll ask for a few details to make sure everything lines up.
Prices vary depending on van size, layout, and equipment. As a guide, our fully off-grid builds (including shower, heating, insulation and lithium power) starts at 80,000€ HT for a 6.5m van.
All our vans are bespoke, so we will build something just for you but within the regulatory constraints.
Most people will use our sample layout as a starting point, but personalise from there, we can guide and help you with the interior design.
There is a huge amount of choice of finishes, but we will help simplify things by listening to your needs and designing around your lifestyle and tastes.
Yes, of course! Our current sample van has a 120×90 wet room and on demand hot water, so you can have a shower for as long as you want.
Our vans are designed to be discrete, but we will work with your needs and have your van wrapped/ add double glazed privacy windows/ apply non scratch paint to your trim etc.
Our vans have multi layer insulation, climate control fans, double glazing, mosquito nets, thermostatic heating and interior water tanks so are ready for all seasons.
We can install additional alarms/ trackers as necessary, but with the new 3 point upper door locking on Sprinter side doors/double glazed dark tinted windows and a sliding cabinet door, no one can properly see in from the outside, and the vans are much harder to get into without the keys.
We focus primarily on full, turn-key conversions — that’s where we can bring the most value, but can help with supplying and fitting electrical systems/diesel heaters and windows.
We would advise you to visit us and step inside a completed build to get a feel for the space and our craftsmanship. Either at the beach or any mutually chosen location.
Yes, regularly via WhatsApp group with photos. We will keep you fully updated at each major stage of your build. We will have questions regarding the finishing touches as we go along, and want to ensure that all your questions are fully and simply answered, and any changes can be made before it is too late.
Yes. We pride ourselves on our after sales, and maintain contact with you after delivery of your van. You can always make an appointment to come and see us if you wish to repair a scratch/repair something you have damaged or upgrade as necessary. Normally we can log in to your van computer remotely and help out if you have a technical problem whilst travelling. We focus on solutions not problems.
Yes. All conversions come with a 12 month warranty on workmanship as standard, but in reality if there is a problem we will do everything we can to solve it. Mercedes supply their new vans with a full 24 month manufacturers warranty. We’re always on hand for aftercare and support — even years down the line.
All our builds meet VASP standards, and your van will be delivered with the certification noted on the Carte Grise for the full conversion. We don’t offer VASP homologation for third-party builds.
